The representative of the local MP today allegedly committed suicide by shooting at Jagdishpatti locality here, police said.
Anil Singh Parivartan, the representative of BJP MP KP Singh, shot himself dead with his licenced weapon at his residence in the afternoon, police said.
He was rushed to the district hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.
Family members of the deceased said Anil was under depression for the last few days, police said, adding that the motive behind the extreme step was not immediately clear.
The incident took place ahead of BJP national president Amit Shah's address to booth-level workers at TD College here in the evening.
