Robbers break open ATM, loot Rs 16 lakh in Raj

A gang of robbers today cut open an ATM of a private bank and looted cash worth Rs 16 lakh on Tonk Road here.

The unidentified robbers used a gas cutter to remove the front portion of the machine to decamp the entire cash from the ATM in the wee hours near Pratapnagar, DCP Kunwar Rashtradeep said.

Bank's online monitoring system made a call of theft to the police after two hours around 03:15 hrs, DCP said.

Police have alerted the toll plazas on the national highways and the CCTV recordings are being examined, he said.

There was no guard at the ATM booth when the loot took place, Rashtradeep said.
 

No arrest has been made so far in the case, he said, adding the investigation is underway.
