Police, however, said there seemed to be no substance in the complaint as the builder had necessary permissions.
"The hillock on Title Survey Number 101, survey no 38 (part) was found to be being demolished with earthmovers. So I have lodged a complaint with Powai police station Wednesday," said activist Ravindra Tiwari.
"I have grown up seeing these hillocks. But now it seems they are being erased to create more land for development," he said.
The activist also said that he had written to the state environment ministry to look into the matter and inquire about the permissions given to the builder to carry out construction work on these hillocks which had green cover.
When contacted, Anil Pophale, senior police inspector attached to Powai police station, said, "Prima facie I do not find anything dubious as the builder has produced all the permissions. But still we will conduct further probe.
