Silver futures on Friday traded higher by Rs 707 to Rs 47,729 per kg after speculators raised bets, driven by a firm trend overseas.
Silver contracts for March delivery rose by 1.5 per cent, or Rs 707, to Rs 47,729 per kg in a business turnover of 7,643 lots on the Multi Commodity Exchange.
Besides, the white metal to be delivered in May jumped by Rs 709, or 1.49 per cent, to Rs 48,245 per kg in 170 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders in sync with a firm trend overseas for precious metals mainly influenced silver prices here.
In the international market, silver traded higher by 1.19 per cent at USD 18.26 an ounce in New York.
