Six killed by speeding car in UP

Six persons were killed and 12 others injured after a speeding car hit them when they had gathered for a religious function here, police said today.

The incident took place last night at Pannaha village in Gauri Bazar area, where a large number of people had gathered for 'Devi Puja' and a speeding car lost control and hit them, they said.

While six persons, including two women died on the spot, 12 others were injured. The injured were rushed to a hospital, where their condition was stated to be stable.

The vehicle has been impounded and one person arrested in connection with the case.
