Six policemen suspended in connection with robbery, murder

Six policemen have been suspended in connection with the robbery and murder of two passengers by armed dacoits on Hatia-bound Maurya Express three days ago, a senior officials said today.

The six policemen, comprising five members of an escort party and Hathidah Additional GRP station house in-charge Rakesh Kumar Sharma, have been suspended on charge of dereliction of duty, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Railway, K.S. Dwivedi told reporters.

Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against Barauni GRP in-charge Ajay Kumar, he said.

Meanwhile, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Headquarters, Gupteshwar Pandey said that three persons, identified as Shrawan Kumar, Sanjeev Kumar and Golu Kumar, were arrested today in connection with the robbery and murder of two passengers of Maurya Express by armed dacoits between Hathidah and Rampur Dumra railway stations on August 16 last to take number of those arrested to eleven so far.
 

Pandey said that Bihar police has taken the probe into the incident as a challenge and the IG (Railway) Pankaj Darad has been asked to camp at Mokama to work out the case.
