Sugar drops on sluggish demand, good supplies

Both Medium and Small sugar varieties dropped at the Vashi wholesale market here today on sluggish demand from stockists, retailers as well as bulk consumers amid good supply positions.

Medium sugar (M-30) slid by Rs 6/22 per quintal to Rs 3,076/3,260 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 3,082/3,282.

Small sugar (S-30) also fell by Rs 8/20 per quintal to Rs 2,972/3,062 from Rs 2,980/3,082 previously.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,972/3,062 (Rs 2,980/3,082).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,076/3,260 (Rs 3,082/3,282).
