Sugar prices decline on muted demand, higher supply

Sugar prices dropped by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following fall in demand at prevailing levels amid higher supplies from mills.

Marketmen said slackened demand at current levels against ample stocks following increased supplies from mills, mainly led to the fall in sweetener prices.

Sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 50 each to end at Rs 3,470-3,540 and Rs 3,460-3,530 per quintal.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices also declined by Rs 20 each to settle at Rs 3,800-3,860 and Rs 3,790-3,850 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Asmoli fell by Rs 50 at Rs 3,500, while Kinnoni, Budhana and Thanabhavan shed Rs 40 each at Rs 3,540, Rs 3,490 and Rs 3,480 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 38.00-43.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 Rs 3,800-3,860, S-30 Rs 3,790-3,850.

Mill delivery: M-30 Rs 3,470-3,540, S-30 Rs 3,460-3,530.

Sugar millgate (including duty): Mawana Rs 3,520, Kinnoni Rs 3,540, Asmoli Rs 3,500, Dorala Rs 3,510, Budhana Rs 3,490, Thanabhavan Rs 3,480, Dhanora Rs 3,490, Simbholi Rs 3,540, Khatuli Rs 3,530, Dhampur Rs 3,490, Ramala Rs 3,530, Anupshaher Rs 3,520, Baghpat Rs 3,550, Morna Rs 3,550, Sakoti Rs 3,490, Chandpur Rs 3,480, Nazibabad Rs 3,530 and Malakpur Rs N.T.
