Sugar rebounds on fresh demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar recovered smartly at the Vashi wholesale market here today on renewed demand from stockists and bulk consumers.

Medium sugar (M-30) shot-up by Rs 42/10 per quintal to Rs 2,842/2,956 from overnight closing level of Rs 2,800/2,946.

Small sugar (S-30) climbed by Rs 15/18 per quintal to Rs 2,700/2,800 as against Rs 2,685/2,782 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,700/2,800 (Rs 2,685/2,782).

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,842/2,956 (Rs 2,800/2,946.
