Sugar prices up on fresh demand, restricted supply

Sugar prices improved by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today largely due to stockists buying following pick up in demand from bulk consumers amidst restricted supplies.

Marketmen said apart from restricted supplies from mills, increased offtake by stockists as demand from bulk consumers picked up, supported the rise in the sweetener prices.

Besides, increased demand from retailers following beginning of new month also influenced prices, they said.

Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 enquired higher at Rs 3,240-3,370 and Rs 3,230-3,360 as against previous closing of Rs 3,220-3,350 and Rs 3,210-3,340 per quintal.

Similarly, mill delivery M-30 and S-30 traded higher at Rs 3,080-3,210 and Rs 3,060-3,200 instead of Rs 3,070-3,205 and Rs 3,050-3,190 per quintal.
 

In the millgate section, prominent gainers were sugar Daurala that surged by Rs 50 at Rs 3,170 per quintal, while Mawana rose by Rs 35 at Rs 3,180 per quintal.

Prices of Modinagar, Chandpur, Bulandshar and Dhanora were up by Rs 20 each at Rs 3,120, Rs 3,090, Rs 3,120 and Rs 3,125 per quintal.

Sugar retail markets - Rs 33.00-35.00 per kg.

Sugar ready: M-30 (Rs 3,2340-3,370); S-30(Rs 3,230-3,360).

Mill delivery: M-30 (Rs 3,080-3,210); S-30(Rs 3,060-3,200).

Sugar mill gate (including duty): Mawana (Rs 3,180); Kinnoni (Rs 3,210); Asmoli (Rs 3,190); Dorala (Rs 3,170); Budhana (Rs 3,145); Thanabhavan (Rs 3,140); Dhanora (Rs 3,125); Simbholi (Rs 3,175); Modi Nagar (Rs 3,120); Khatuli (Rs 3,180); Dhampur (Rs 3,115); Ramala (Rs 3,110); Bulandshahr (Rs 3,120); Anupshahr (Rs 3,080); Baghpat (Rs 3,120); Morna (Rs 3,110); Sakoti (Rs 3,120); Chandpur (Rs 3,090) and Nazibabad (Rs 3,090).
