Tax targets in Hyderabad zone will be met: Union Minister

Union Minister of State for Finance (Revenue) J D Seelam today expressed confidence over achieving the targets set for Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax Department of Hyderabad zone.

The minister said keeping in view the slump in the economy, the target was reduced to Rs 11,500 crore from the earlier Rs 14,000 crore for the zone.

"This year, the target has been reduced to Rs 11,500 crore from Rs 14,000 crore due to slump. I am confident that the officials would aim to achieve Rs 14,000 crore despite the reduced target," Seelam said in meeting.

The union minister today laid foundations stone for the 'Customs House' at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here.
 

He said he would extend all possible help to the department to help complete the building on schedule.

Several senior officials of the department were present on the occasion.
