Teenaged girl injured in blast at building

A 14-year-old girl has been injured in a blast that took place in a two-storeyed building, in which explosive material meant for temple festivals were stored, at Kottai in the district, police said today.

The blast which occurred at around midnight, also caused some damage to five other houses in the neighbourhood, they said.

The girl, her mother and a man, who stored the explosives in the building, were residing there it's only residents.

The man and woman were not injured, they said, adding that only a detailed investigation would throw light on how exactly the explosion occurred.
