TN CM, Stalin greet Prime Minister Modi on his birthday

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and DMK President M K Stalin Monday greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 68th birthday, while the BJP's state unit celebrated the occasion by gifting a gold ring to a new-born.

Palaniswami sent his birthday greetings to the Prime Minister along with a flower bouquet, wishing Modi good health to serve the nation and the people.

"On the joyous occasion of your birthday, I take great pleasure in conveying my warm wishes to you for a wonderful year ahead," he told Modi.

"I pray that the Almighty may grant you many more years of good health and strength to serve our nation and the people," he said in the message, which was released by the state government.

 

Stalin, Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly, took to Twitter to greet Modi.

"Warm greetings and best wishes to Prime Minister @narendramodi on his birthday. I wish him good health and a long life," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, the state BJP celebrated Modi's birthday by presenting gold ring to a new-born at a government primary health centre at Purasawalkam here.

Party's state unit President Tamilisai Soundararajan said though the party had announced it will present such rings to all children born today, there was only one new-born today coinciding with Modi's birthday.

"I presented a gold ring to one child (born today). However, we presented gift packs to other new-borns, numbering 17-18, at the health centre," she told PTI.

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi also greeted Modi on his birthday and said "the vision, commitment, intellect and leadership exhibited by you (Prime Minister) have been instrumental in our country emerging as a force to reckon in the comity of nations."

She also extended greetings on behalf of the people of Union Territory.

"Schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, MUDRA, and Ayushman Bharat are path-breaking schemes, truly inclusive, to make the poor of India be part of development and prosperity," she said.

Earlier, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, BJP chief Amit Shah and Congress president Rahul Gandhi had greeted the Prime Minister, who turned 68 today.
