Continuing the tradition of adopting classical gems of English literature in arthouse flicks, a new age director-duo now recants a Robert Browning poetic piece starring Priyangshu Chatterjee.
"Ei Raat Tomar Amar' has been inspired by Robert Browning's 'Porphyria's Lover' with the theme of a famous painter's intense passion for his childhood crush having been re-adapted in Bengali milieu," the duo Soumyo-Supriya said.
"If you talk about English classics largely influencing a particular genre of films I would attribute that to the literary-mindedness of the middle-class Bengali audiences whom we all try to wean back to the theatres in past few years," the duo said.
