Transgenders stage demo

More than 60 transgenders today staged a demonstration at the Head Post office here to push their charter of demands which included distribution of ration cards to them on a war-footing.

Besides urging the government to take up enumeration of the number of transgenders in the Union Territory, they also wanted a welfare board to address their grievances.

They also demanded reservation quota in educational institutions.

The protest was organised by 'Sagodharan', a non-governmental organisation, and the Progressive Writers and Artists Association.
