Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devbarman today presented a vote-on-account of Rs 4,057.19 crore for the next three months.

The newly-elected state government could not prepare a full-fledged budget due to paucity of time, it said.

Devbarman said the new BJP-Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) government took oath of office and secrecy on May 9 and it was not possible to present a full-fledged budget within such a short time which was why the vote-on-account was presented.

Devbarman also presented asupplementary demands for grants and expenditure for 2017-2018 Financial year of Rs 1,161.19 crore.

He alleged that the previous Left Front government had spent money without proper planning and provision and had put the government under a financial liability of Rs 11,355.53 crore.
