Two arrested with 90 kg poppy straw in J-K

Two persons were arrested today and 90 kg of poppy straw was recovered from their possession in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police official said.

Police intercepted a car going to Punjab from Kashmir at a checkpost at Banihal area in Ramban district this morning, the official said.

During the inspection, 90 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle, he said, adding that two persons identified as Bhagwan Singh (35) and Baga Singh (50), both residents of of Fatehabad in Haryana, were arrested.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them and investigation is underway, he said.
