At least one person was killed and a few others feared trapped when two multi-storey buildings collapsed near Thomas Town here early Wednesday, police said.
While 7 people have been rescued, efforts to pull out one more person trapped under the rubble was underway, they said.
The accident occurred when the foundation of a building under renovation gave way and it collapsed on the one abutting it.
Families living in the adjacent building were quickly evacuated, police said.
The police, NDRF and fire brigade personnel were engaged in the rescue operations.
Those rescued have been shifted to the government hospital, they said.
