Education Department secretary G Kumar Naik engaged the schools in a dialogue, but the latter decided to continue with their week-long school bandh launched from today.
The managements of the schools have accused the government of modifying RTE rules.
Among other things, they have been protesting the government norm to determine the religious and linguistic status of minority institutions.
The state government had recently declared that only those institutions which have 75 per cent of students from minority sections will be exempt from RTE.
