Undertrial escapes, 3 cops suspended

An undertrial, taken to a court in Jalandhar by Jammu and Kashmir Police, escaped from their custody, prompting the authorities to suspend three cops and order a probe into the incident.

Sonu, undergoing trial in cases related to smuggling of narcotic substances, was taken to a court in Jalandhar in Punjab by a J and K Police team yesterday.

He, however, gave a slip to them and escaped, police said.

Three police personnel, who took Sonu to Jalandhar from Kotbalwal jail here, were placed under suspension, they said adding a probe had been ordered into his escape.
