US Air Force base on lockdown over active shooter incident

A US Air Force base in the San Francisco area was placed on lockdown following reports of an active shooter incident, a spokeswoman has said.
"We are having an active shooter incident at the base right now and the base is on lockdown," staff sergeant Nicole Leidholm, a spokeswoman at Travis Air Force Base, told AFP yesterday.
She said all staff at the facility, located 55 miles (90 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, had been told to seek shelter or avoid the area.
Leidholm said the alarm was sounded at approximately 3:15 PM (local time) and there were no initial reports of casualties.
