US President Donald Trump and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani today vowed to end terror financing as part of their goal to directly target the flow of money to terrorist groups.

In the past Gulf countries have been a major source of financing to terrorism.

"Tamim and I have been working for a number of years, now, actually, even before the fact, on terrorism. And we're making sure that terrorism funding is stopped in the countries that we are really related to. Because I feel related," Trump told reporters during a media appearance with the Qatari leader.

"But those countries are stopping the funding of terrorism. That includes the UAE. It includes Saudi Arabia. It includes Qatar, and others. A lot of countries were funding terrorism, and we're stopping it. It's getting stopped, and fast. Very important," Trump said.

Tamim said he his country will not tolerate people who fund terrorism.

"We've been cooperating with the United States of America to stop funding terrorism around the region. We do not tolerate with people who support and fund terrorism," he said.

"I would like to also thank the president for him being involved, personally, in stopping the Gulf Cooperation Council criss. He's been very helpful. He's been supporting us during this blockade. And I would like to also thank the American people for being very supportive. And his role is very vital to end this crisis in our region," he said.

Trump hosted in the White House the ruling emir of Qatar he once accused of funding terrorism. Trump hasn't repeated that charge since Qatar taken steps to address US concerns.
