Vigilance part of good governance: CVC tells Railways PSUs

Ensuring vigilance is management function and it should be seen as a part of good governance, Vigilance Commissioner in CVC R Srikumar today told chiefs of Railways PSUs here.

Srikumar was addressing a workshop on leveraging information technology organised today for Railway Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) by Ircon International Limited.

He said e-Procurement is the proven tool for enhancing transparency as well as for saving cost of procurement.

The Commissioner said that vigilance is a management function and all Chairman and Managing Directors (CMDs) should view it as a part of good governance, a press release issued by IRCON quoted Srikumar as saying.
 

Adviser (Vigilance), Railway Board, A K Maitra said that information technology helps in better governance & fixing accountability.

He said that introduction of several IT tools in Railways has helped in reduction of graft complaints by up to 20 per cent.
