Vigilance registers criminal cases against 4 Markfed officers

The vigilance wing of Odisha Police today registered criminal cases against four officers of the Markfed (Odisha State Co-operative Marketing Federation Ltd) on charge of misappropriation of fertilizers.

The cases have been registered against Manoj Kumar Pandey, godown in-charge, Rajkishore Panda, area manager, Dukhishyam Mandhata, manager input and Ashok Kumar Mahasuar, development officer of Markfed, Bhubaneswar.

They have been accused of misappropriation of 353.250 tonne of fertilizers worth Rs 44,11,500, official sources said.

The Vigilance wing said based on reliable information regarding misappropriation and pilferage of fertilizers by the officers of MARKFED, a joint surprise check was conducted by the officers of Vigilance, Cuttack in between April 6 and April 17 in the Buffer godown, Bhubaneswar.
 

"Scrutiny of the documents/ register revealed that as per book balance, the stock of fertilizers of different brands like Uria IFCO, IPL Uria, MOP IPL, DAP IFCO, DAP PPL and others should be 648.300 tonne, but during physical verification, only 295.25 tonne of fertilizer of above brands were found in the godown, a shortage of 353.05 tonne of fertilizers," the anti-corruption wing said.
