Yesterday, a team of officials started monitoring water flow in Cauvery river at Center Water Guage (CWG) at Billigundalu, 62 km from Dharmapuri, where the river enters the Tamil Nadu forests, officials said.
This followed continuous rain in catchment areas of Karnataka forests, leading to heavy flow into Kabini and Krishna Raja Sagara water reservoirs in that state in the past few days.
The water level of the Mettur dam, situated downstream, has risen due to these heavy flows.
