Water level of major rivers in UP breach danger mark

The water level of major rivers, including the Ganga and the Yamuna, in Uttar Pradesh has crossed the danger mark at several places in the state.

The water level of the Ganga has breached the danger mark at Fafamau and Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Ghazipur. The river has swollen to 60.30 metres in Ballia, the Central Water Commission said.

The water level of the Yamuna has crossed the red mark at Chillaghat in Banda, Hamirpur and Naini in Allahabad, while that of Kenand Sharda rivers has crossed the danger mark in Banda and Kheri, respectively.

Scattered rains were witnessed in different parts of the state today as well. The weatherman said more rains are likely tomorrow.
