The weather remained mostly dry in Himachal Pradesh where the monsoon weakened further even as minimum temperatures dropped by a few notches in the tribal areas and the higher reaches of the state.
The minimum plunged by up to five notches in the tribal areas to hit 8.6 degrees in Keylong and 9.4 degrees in Kalpa. Manali and Shimla recorded lows of 11.6 and 15.5 degrees, respectively, a drop of three notches since yesterday.
Una recorded a minimum of 23 degrees followed by Dharamsala (21.6), Sundernagar (19.1), Nahan (17.9), Bhuntar (17.3), Palampur (16.5) and Solan (16).
Maximum temperatures, however, remained steady with Una recording a high of 35 degrees followed by Sundernagar (32.1), Bhuntar (32), Solan (29.3), Dharamsala and Nahan (both 28.2), Shimla (22.7) and Kalpa (22.5).
Meanwhile, deficient rainfall over the past two months has almost neutralised the impact of the early onset of monsoon in the state with HP now recording an overall normal precipitation.
The state recorded average showers of 711mm between June 1 to August 31 against normal precipitation of 707.5mm with three out of the 12 districts registering deficient rainfall.
The highest deficiency of 70 per cent was in Lahaul and Spiti district, which received 108mm rainfall as against a normal 361mm.
Chamba received 757mm rainfall as compared to its normal of 1,190mm. Solan got 726mm against the normal of 837mm.
Kinnaur saw 98 per cent excess rainfall of 389mm against its normal precipitation of 198mm.
The other districts which recorded excess precipitation were Una (1,094mm, up by 51 per cent), Kangra (1,797mm, 32 per cent), Kullu (571mm, 31 per cent), Sirmaur (1,397mm, 17 per cent) and Mandi (1,102mm, 16 per cent).
