Woman dies post childbirth, negligence charge against hospital

A young woman today died at the civil hospital here after giving birth to a baby girl there yesterday with the kin of the deceased alleging it was gross negligence on part of the staff which had led to the tragedy.

The death of Anju Devi (26) in the wee hours today saw her husband Amit Kumar, a resident of Shiv Colony, holding a protest here along with several others alleging that his wife had died owing to gross negligence by hospital staff.

They demanded registration of a criminal case against hospital staff over the incident.

The Chief Medical Officer of the civil hospital has set up a committee of senior doctors to probe into the matter while police have conducted a post-mortem on the woman as they opened an investigation in the case.
 

The newborn baby girl, meanwhile, is said to be in fine fettle.
