A 34-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries after she was mauled by a leopard in Hareti village in Uttarkashi district, forest department official said here today.
Rajmati Devi went to the adjacent forest to collect hay on Friday when the leopard, lurking behind the bushes, attacked her, they said.
The man-eater tried to drag the woman into the bushes but was chased away after a passerby started pelting stones on it, they said.
The other women accompanying the victim informed the nearby authorities. Devi, meanwhile, succumbed to her injuries, they said.
The agitated villagers protested about the incident and demanded the forest officials to kill or capture the animal.
