German and Polish students inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, cleaned up the premises of an over two-century old Shiva temple here.

They appreciated the Prime Minister's pledge that he would neither throw litter around nor would allow others to do so, as they cleaned up the temple located on the banks of river Vishwamitri near Lalaghoda here yesterday.

On a student exchange program to Modi's home state Gujarat, they were part of a group of 44 students from the Wroclaw University of Technology, Poland, and Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences, Germany.

Some of them spoke a few words in Hindi which they had learnt during the summer school program.

The students have been staying here as part of the program with private educational institutes at Limda on the outskirt of Vadodara city since last month.

The Prime Minister had last year launched the nationwide cleanliness campaign from the Valmiki Basti in New Delhi on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
