Zinc futures weaken on subdued demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Taking weak cues from domestic spot markets due to sluggish demand, zinc prices fell 0.42 per cent to 119 per kg in futures trade today as participants trimmed their exposure.

At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in October declined 50 paise, or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 119 per kg in a business turnover of seven lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in September shed 40 paise, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 118.30 per kg in 364 lots.

Analysts said weakness in zinc was mostly due to sluggish demand from consuming industries at the domestic markets amid China's trade data showing exports and imports contracting.
