Over the past years, telecommunication industry has worked tirelessly to ensure Indian economy and society remains operational. It is not only the economy that is dependent on a robust communication network but also a country’s overall development depends on it. In 1995 private players were allowed into the sector. Since then, Indian telecommunications players have continued to push the boundaries of innovation. Contributing his part in the same is Sumant Kant Kaul, a business stalwart, who established himself as the jack of all trades and mastered the same by learning the knack of and implementing services like strategic planning, team building, management consultancy, project management, leadership development, marketing strategy, and training, acing it all along with leading the telecommunications market from the front by opening his offices in Delhi, NCR , UP and Maharashtra in the 1990’s to help cellular operators such as Airtel and BPL Cellular Ltd now Vodafone Idea
Sumant Kant Kaul was also advising Ericsson telecom Works Director Lars Eric Wheelborg in India who was the technology provider to Bharti Airtel and Birla AT&T.
Telephony in India has come a long way. Founder CMD of Hitech Cellular and Paging services P Ltd, Sumant Kant Kaul is a Mechanical Engineer who revamped this sector of telephony with his impeccable marketing planning.
He introduced schemes to subsidise mobile phones and incoming and outgoing calls substantially when officially the incoming call rate was INR 16.8. Giving cheques for subsidy on incoming calls to telecom operators from his side to be used by customers which paved the way for boom in the telecom industry, Sumant made incoming calls free and outgoing calls for Re 1 per minute for a considerable period for the general public in 1997-98, while it was officially done by the government only in 2003.
Telecommunications is perhaps the greatest engine of world's economic growth and Sumant Kant Kaul envisioned in 1995 that everyone from a street vendor, domestic help, and farmer to a rickshaw puller should have their hands on these services which would enable the country to connect and move economically forward. He brought many innovative marketing schemes like connect to Airtel and BPL Cellular US West at Hitech showrooms and collect a Free Diamond pendent and even initiated Free Gift holiday vouchers in 3/4 star hotels, Gold Plated Ray Ban glasses, and free mobile phones to encourage people in Delhi and Maharashtra circle to subscribe to Airtel and BPL Cellular US West now known as Vodafone Idea.
This innovative idea of giving Free Incoming Calls and Outgoing Calls at Re 1 per minute by Sumant Kant Kaul preponed the decision of the Middle class and Lower Middle class of India's population thus paving the way for the gigantic economic boom in our country.

Telecommunications industry has evolved from 2G to 5G. As India is on its way to unlock its digital future, rural areas are still left behind unaware of the wonders happening at the touch of a button. Not being techno-economically feasible for the rural to adapt to these changes, it becomes eminent to bring forth a blueprint that makes it easier for them to use.
Sumant Kaul is a Mechanical Engineer who started his career with the Cummins Ltd world's biggest high speed Diesel Engine manufacturing company in the 80s.He learned the precision that is required in the field. His endeavours working with laudable business tycoons got him the hands-on experience to start his own business and land various prominent contracts with Prime Minister’s Office, Parliament house, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Nuclear Research Lab, CBI, Police Headquarters New Delhi, Tihar Jail and Indian Railways and many more under various Ministries of Government of India.
Sumant Kant Kaul brought and practically used the advance technologies to predict failure in the High Speed Diesel engines powering locomotives, Dumpers, Dozers, Excavators, cranes used in nation building like Dam, Roads and Building construction and Captive Power Plants using Diesel Generators .He termed it Predictive Maintenance where he could scientifically predict a failure of an engine before it could happen. This helped the clients to save millions and down time which would have led to loss of production and also huge cost to be spent on the machines due to failed engine.
Sumant Kaul is also a black belt in Judo and the Ex All India Champion. He also won the Prof Jigaro kano international Judo championship with a win over Sri Lanka.
