Zimbabwe put up a brilliant bowling performance on display in Match 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 in Colombo on Monday as they first bundled out Oman for just 103 before chasing the target with eight wickets and 39 balls to spare to start their campaign on a high.
Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bowl first. Oman lost their first wicket early as Muzarabani cleaned up Jatinder Singh (5 runs off 5 balls) in the second over. Richard Ngarava, in the next over, dismissed Hamman Mirza (0 run off 5 balls) before Muzarabani once again struck to dismiss Aamir Kaleem (5 runs off 7 balls) and Karan Sonavala (0 run off 6 balls) to send Oman’s top three back to the pavilion.
Sikandar Raza then dismissed Wasim Ali (3 runs off 8 balls) as Oman lost five wickets with just 27 runs on the board. Vinayak Shukla (28 runs off 21 balls) hung around for a while and helped Oman cross the 50-run mark before losing his wicket to Richard Ngarava, who three balls later got the better of Jiten Ramanandi (1 run off 3 balls).
Brad Evans joined the wicket-takers’ party by ending Sufyan Mehmood (25 runs off 39 balls) and Shakeel Ahmed (4 runs off 5 balls) to push Oman on the verge of being all out. Nadeem Khan (20 runs off 18 balls) then took Oman past the 100-run mark before finally losing his wicket as Oman were bundled out for just 103.
In reply, Zimbabwe got off to a good start, adding 30 runs for the first wicket before Sufyan Mehmood dismissed Marumani (21 runs off 11 balls) and Dion Myers (0 runs off 2 balls) to keep the match open. However, Brian Bennett (48 not out off 36 balls) and Brendon Taylor (31 runs off 31 balls) then added 68 runs for the third wicket before Taylor was retired out to put Zimbabwe on the verge of a big win.
Skipper Sikandar Raza (5 runs off 2 balls) finished the job to hand Zimbabwe an easy eight-wicket win with 39 balls to spare.

Scotland thrash Italy
Scotland registered a commanding 73-run victory over Italy in Match 7 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, after scoring 207 for 4 and bowling Italy out for 134.
Batting first after Italy won the toss and elected to field, Scotland made full use of the conditions. George Munsey led the charge with an aggressive 84 off 54 balls, bringing up his half-century in 30 deliveries. Munsey and Michael Jones added 126 for the opening wicket, giving Scotland a dominant start. Jones contributed 37 off 30 balls before falling to JJ Smuts.
Italy struck briefly in the middle overs, with Ali Hasan dismissing Richie Berrington for 15 and Samosa Draca removing Tom Bruce for 1 in the final over. However, Brandon McMullen’s unbeaten 41 off 18 balls and Michael Leask’s 22 not out off 5 balls ensured Scotland finished strongly on 207 for 4 in their 20 overs.
Italy’s chase began disastrously as Justin Mosca was dismissed on the first ball by Michael Leask. JJ Smuts scored 22 off 11 balls, while Anthony Mosca added 13, but regular wickets kept Italy behind the required rate. At the end of the powerplay, Italy were 54 for 3.
Ben Manenti provided resistance with a half-century, scoring 52 off 31 balls to become Italy’s first player to register a T20 World Cup fifty. He shared a 73-run stand with Harry Minenti, who made 27 off 25 balls. Once that partnership was broken, Italy collapsed, losing their remaining wickets quickly. Michael Leask and Mark Watt played key roles as Italy were bowled out for 134, sealing a comprehensive win for Scotland.
