Delhi Capitals are back to winning ways in IPL 2025 as they beat Rajasthan Royals in match number 32 of the tournament in a Super Over finish. Both teams finished at 188 after their 20 overs, but DC chased down the total set by RR in the Super Over to walk away with two full points.
Earlier, RR won the toss and opted to field first. DC got off to a flying start with Abhishek Porel collecting 23 runs from the second over, but the opening stand ended in the very next over as Jake Fraser (9) lost his wicket to Jofra Archer. Things took another wrong turn for DC as they lost last match’s hero Karun Nair (0) to a run-out.
KL Rahul (38) then added 63 runs for the third wicket with Porel to steady the innings before falling to Archer. Abhishek Porel missed his well-deserved half-century by just one run and, in the very next over, fell to Wanindu Hasaranga on 49.
Skipper Axar Patel (34) played a fiery cameo to put DC on course for a fighting total before Theekshana finally claimed his wicket. In the end, Tristan Stubbs (34 not out) and Ashutosh Sharma (15 not out) added an unbeaten 42 runs for the sixth wicket as DC finished their innings on 188 for 5.
In reply, RR got off to a brilliant start and added 61 runs for the first wicket before skipper Sanju Samson was retired hurt on 31. Riyan Parag (8) failed to make an impact and was dismissed by Axar Patel.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (51) scored his second consecutive half-century before losing his wicket to Kuldeep Yadav. Nitish Rana (51) was next to depart off Mitchell Starc immediately after completing his half-century. Dhruv Jurel (26) and Shimron Hetmyer (15 not out) tried their best but could only level the scores, as RR finished their 20 overs on 188 for 4, forcing a Super Over.
RR batted first in the Super Over and scored 11 runs before losing both their wickets. In reply, DC chased down the target in just four balls to secure the win.
