IndiGo commences direct flights from New Delhi to China's Guangzhou

IndiGo has started direct flights from the national capital to Guangzhou. For the airline, Delhi is the second city after Kolkata to have non-stop services to the Chinese city. The carrier commenced daily, non-stop flights between Delhi and Guangzhou from November 10 and the services will be operated with narrow-body A320 neo aircraft, according to a release on Tuesday. With the latest addition, IndiGo now connects Delhi to 21 international destinations. On October 26, flights resumed between Kolkata and Guangzhou. China Eastern Airlines, on November 9, commenced direct Delhi-Shanghai flights. Following the recent diplomatic initiatives, it was decided to resume direct flights between India and China. Direct flights were operational between the two countries till early 2020 before being suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. Indian and Chinese carriers had direct services. The services remained suspended in view of the eastern Ladakh border row.

IndiGo to adopt evidence-based training to enhance pilot competencies

The country's largest airline IndiGo aims to implement evidence-based training programmes for its pilots, as part of its continuing efforts to enhance their competencies, including improved situational awareness, according to a senior official. IndiGo, which operates over 2,300 flights daily, is expanding its fleet by adding wide-body planes and currently has more than 5,300 pilots. Currently, Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) is implemented at the airline. "When you become CBTA-compliant, you eventually end up, once you mature, you become EBT-compliant," the senior airline official told PTI. EBT refers to Evidence-Based Training. "So right now, we are just baselining the CBTA. Now, with all the data we are going to use, and with the help of the world's best practices...or having consultants on board, we need to see how we can eventually reach the EBT stage," the official said. Various skills, enhanced situational awareness, decision-making, and corporate resource .

Jeddah-Hyderabad IndiGo flight diverted to Mumbai after 'human bomb' threat

The Rajiv Gandhi International (RGIA) Airport here received a threat email on Saturday claiming that there was a "human bomb" onboard a flight (IndiGo) from Jeddah to Hyderabad, following which the aircraft was diverted to Mumbai where it landed safely, police said. The airport authorities lodged a complaint with police, saying they received the threat email at around 5.30 am which warned them to "prevent landing of IndiGo (flight) in Hyderabad". The email further stated "...onboard LTTE-ISI operatives have planned a major 1984 Madras Airport Modus operandi style blast", police said. All stakeholders were alerted and the flight was diverted to Mumbai airport where it safely landed, they said adding "all (security) checks were carried out and no issue was found". Based on the complaint a case was registered. Further investigation is on, police added. In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson said, A security threat was received for IndiGo flight 6E 68 operating from Jeddah to Hyderaba

IndiGo flight to Srinagar makes precautionary landing in Varanasi

An IndiGo plane enroute to Srinagar from Kolkata made a precautionary landing at the Varanasi airport on Wednesday evening due to a technical issue. Sources said malfunctioning of a sensor in the aircraft led to a false alarm of fuel leakage, following which the plane landed in Varanasi. "IndiGo flight 6E 6961, operating from Kolkata to Srinagar, made a precautionary landing at Varanasi airport due to a suspected technical issue. As a safety measure, the aircraft has been grounded for necessary checks, and an alternate aircraft has been arranged to continue the journey," the airline said in a statement. Specific details about the technical issue and the number of passengers onboard were not disclosed. The flight was operated with A320 neo aircraft, as per information available on flight tracking website Flightradar24.com.
