Stock Market Highlights: 26 constituent stocks of Nifty50 ended higher with the gains led by NTPC, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Shriram Finance, and Larsen & Toubro on Monday

Stock Market Highlights, Monday, September 16, 2024: Benchmark equity indices, BSE Sensex, and NSE Nifty50 ended Monday’s choppy session in positive territory. The 30-share Sensex added 97.84 points, or 0.12 per cent, at 82,988.78. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty50 settled at 25,383.75, up 27.25 points or 0.11 percent on Monday. The index had hit an all-time high of 25,445.70 levels during the intra-day trade.

26 constituent stocks of Nifty50 ended higher with the gains led by NTPC, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Shriram Finance, and Larsen & Toubro. Meanwhile, Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finserv, SBI Life Insurance Company, and Britannia Industries were the top laggards of the index.

From the BSE space, 15 constituent stocks of the Sensex ended lower, dragged by Bajaj Finance, Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finserv, Adani Ports, and Titan Company with a fall of up to 3.36 per cent. Meanwhile, NTPC, JSW Steel, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank were among the top gainers, with gains of up to 2.44 percent on Monday.

Notably, shares of Bajaj Housing Finance surged as much as 135.70 per cent from the IPO issue price of Rs 70 to hit the upper circuit of Rs 135.7 on the BSE. The company’s shares listed at a premium of 114.28 percent at Rs 150 on the BSE today.

From the broader indices, the Nifty Midcap100 index scaled an all-time high of 60,408.25 before settling with a gain of 0.38 per cent at a record high close of 60,259.75. Nifty Smallcap100 index ended the week’s first trading session with gains of 0.16 per cent.

Among the sectoral indices, media, metal, financial services, Bank Nifty, and private banks settled higher with gains of up to 1 per cent, while IT, FMCG, select financial services ended lower by up to 0.72 per cent on Monday.
