Ayurveda practitioners cultivate herbal gardens in Tripura

Tripura, Oct 01 (ANI): A group of 55 practitioners of Ayurveda, an ancient Indian system of natural and holistic medicine, cultivate herbal gardens comprising hundreds of rare herbs useful in preparing Ayurvedic medicines in Tripura. The practitioners, under the banner of Vaidyaraj Herbal Growers Society (VHGS), have created ten such herbal gardens across Kanchanpur sub-division in North Tripura district. The Ayurvedic practitioners with little financial and technical help from the government, have collected nearly 500 rare herbs from far flung areas and are growing them in these gardens. The idea behind the herbal garden is to prevent the extinction of most of these herbs. The rare herbs can cure a wide range of diseases including flu, fever, broken bones, snake bite, liver disease, jaundice among many others. The members of the society, all from various tribes, meet occasionally to share their traditional knowledge on Ayurveda. They said a registered license would help them reach out
