
Ranchi (Jharkhand), Feb 17 (ANI): Former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi has merged his party JVM with the BJP. Babulal Marandi joined BJP in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. While addressing the gathering, Shah said that he was trying to get Babulal Marandi join BJP ever since he became the president of BJP in 2014. "Today is a matter of great joy for me, because when I became the President of the party (BJP) in 2014, ever since then Babulalji was trying to come to BJP. With Babulal ji joining BJP, the local leadership of the party will get experienced leaders and BJP's strength will increase," said Home Minister.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday appeared before an MP-MLA court here in connection with a case related to alleged non-compliance of ED summons, a lawyer said.
The CM also filed two bail bonds each for Rs 7,000, and the next hearing in the case will be on December 12, he said.
On the direction of the Jharkhand High Court, the chief minister appeared before the MP-MLA court today. Henceforth, the CM does not need to appear in person," Soren's counsel Pradip Chandra said.
The CM's advocate will represent him during the next hearing on December 12, he said.
The ED had moved the court after Soren "did not turn up for questioning" on the basis of earlier notices issued to him in connection with an alleged land scam.

A court in Bhiwandi in Thane district on Saturday adjourned the hearing in the criminal defamation case filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi by a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) worker to December 20 due to non-availability of a crucial prosecution witness.
Advocate Narayan Iyer, counsel for Rahul Gandhi, confirmed the adjournment, stating that the witness, Ashok Saykar, currently Deputy Superintendent of Police in Barshi in Solapur, could not remain present due to personal reasons.  Saykar's evidence is now likely to be recorded on December 29.  His testimony is considered key because he, as police sub inspector in 2014, conducted the preliminary inquiry into the private defamation matter under Section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).  It was on the basis of Saykar's submitted report that the court subsequently issued process (summons) against Rahul Gandhi under Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Healthcare industry body NATHEALTH has asked the government to increase public spending on healthcare to over 2.5 per cent of GDP with urgent action to tackle non-communicable diseases, including tax deductions of up to Rs 10,000 on individuals for preventive health check-ups.
In its pre-Budget recommendations to the government, NATHEALTH said it outlined a roadmap to strengthen healthcare delivery, foster innovation, and expand insurance and preventive coverage.
The recommendations call for a balanced mix of fiscal support, structural reforms, and public-private collaboration to build a robust, future-ready health system, it said in a statement.
In its recommendations, NATHEALTH asked the sector to be declared 'core infrastructure' and create a healthcare infrastructure fund of Rs 50,000 crore, saying currently there is limited access to long-term, lower-cost capital for hospitals and diagnostic networks.
