Rajiv Gandhi was 2nd 'karsevak' of Ram Janmabhoomi movement: Former Home Secretary

Pune (Maharashtra), Nov 04 (ANI): Former union home secretary and author Madhav Godbole has written a book on the demolition of Babri Masjid. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Godbole talked about former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's role in the aftermaths of Babri Masjid demolition. He said, "If Rajiv Gandhi had acted, a solution could have been found because political positions had not fortified on both sides, there was a possibility of give and take and a solution could have been acceptable." He further said, "Rajiv Gandhi went to extent of opening locks of Babri masjid and permitted 'shilaanyaas', the ceremony for laying the foundation stone of temple and that was done during his time as Prime Minsiter, therefore I have called him 2nd Kar Sevak of the movement, first was the District Magistrate who allowed all this to begin."
