Students hold awareness rally to protect environment in Leh

Leh (J and K), May 26 (ANI): A possession was conducted by the students of various institutions to spread awareness about environment in J and K's Leh on May 24. The rally was named as 'Fridays for Future' started from NDS stadium and culminated at Main Bazaar of Leh. The aim of the rally was to demand a separate post of Executive Councillor in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) to take care of fragile environment of Ladakh. Several students came out on the street and also gave memorandum to the government in this regard. Presidents of various organisations spoke on this occasion at Leh bazaar where the rally was concluded. Students also urged for promotion of eco-tourism and restricting limited number of tourists besides suggesting several other measures to protect the overall environment.
