36th UNHRC session: 'Terrorism in South Asia' discussed in side event

Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 20 (ANI): A group of scholars, academicians, human right activists and politicians brainstormed on 'Terrorism in South Asia' during a side-event held during the 36th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva. During the interaction, the attendees specifically focused on the region of South-Asia, Terrorism, Indo-Pak relations and the Jammu and Kashmir conflict. The discussions were moderated by Kashmiri writer, Junaid Qureshi, and the Director of European Foundation for South Asian Studies (EFSAS). In an incident of utmost dismay, none of the speakers were of South Asian origin. All of them were from reputed European Universities and they deliberated upon terrorism in South Asia from various perspectives, based on their respective expertise. It was an attempt to approach the challenges in South Asia from an academic viewpoint, with the aim to facilitate the understanding of the European audience of the complexities and sensitivities
