Nepal government begins deliberation over Constitution amendment proposal

Kathmandu (Nepal), Aug 17 (ANI): Nepal Parliament started deliberations over the Constitution amendment proposal tabled earlier. Nepal law Minister Yagya Bahadur Thapa had put forward the amendment proposal in the parliament to start deliberation, which was approved by majority of lawmakers.

The second Constitution amendment proposal -2073 has 50 amendments on the table. The first lawmaker to take part in the deliberation was Rewati Raman Bhandari from opposition (Communist Party of Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist).

The doubt that still prevails over the amendment is its endorsement because the government has to garner the two-third majority for passing the bill. But the consensus from Madhesh-based parties has raised hopes and confidence of getting the bill endorsed.
