West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee calls on PM Modi in Dhaka

Dhaka, June 06 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on his first visit to Bangladesh. Both the leaders met at Sonargaon Hotel and will be leaving for the flagging off the bus service between India and Bangladesh together. Prime Minister Modi earlier paid tribute to martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War at the National Martyrs' Memorial. He planted a sapling there. Later he also signed the visitor's book. Modi's visit comes on the heels of land boundary settlement and will witness a flurry of engagements in almost all sectors, focusing on trade and connectivity. He was received by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Dhaka Airport and was presented the guard of honour by armed forces during a formal ceremony.
