The state commerce and transport department has allowed the Sakhigopal Integrated Power Company Ltd (SIPCL), a special purpose vehicle(SPV) formed to set up an ultra mega power plant (UMPP), to use water from sea. The 4,000 MW UMPP will be set up at Chandbali tahasil of Bhadrak district.

The Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) would request the Ministry of Coal to reconsider its decision of de-allocating the coal block that was allotted to the state-run mining company.
