HC refuses to prepone hearing on Kejriwal's plea in excise policy case

The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to advance the hearing on a petition by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal challenging a trial court's order taking cognisance of a chargesheet filed against him in a money laundering case. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri said, "matter will be heard on the same date (December 20). I have a lot on the board to hear." Kejriwal had sought preponement of the date of hearing on his petition from December 20. After the court declined to change the date, Kejriwal's counsel pleaded that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) be directed to a supply copy of its reply to the petition in advance. "Whatever you file, give it to them also," the court told the ED's lawyer. On November 21, the high court refused to stay at that moment the trial court proceedings against Kejriwal in the money laundering case. The high court had issued notice and sought response of the ED on the plea by the former Delhi chief minister. Kejriwal sought setting aside of the trial court order and a

The BJP on Tuesday cited the conviction of AAP MLA Mehrauli Naresh Yadav in a case of desecration of the Quran in Punjab to accuse the party of going to any extent in its alleged greed for power. BJP spokesperson Shazia Ilmi told reporters that another AAP MLA, Naresh Balyan, was recently arrested by the Delhi Police on extortion charges, as she hit out at party leader Arvind Kejriwal. "Be it extorting money or stoking communal passion, such shrewd minds and such a party in its greed for power can go to any extent," she alleged. Ilmi, who was once with AAP before falling out with Kejriwal, said Delhi's ruling party says all kinds of things to get Muslim votes but its MLA conspires to defile the Quran in Punjab. Kejriwal's friend and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav should also talk about it, she said. "This party (AAP) has crossed all limits and come to a dangerous place," Ilmi said, adding that it is now up to the people to decide to get rid of such leaders. Ilmi suggested

The Delhi High Court will hear on December 9 a plea by the city's opposition leaders seeking a direction to place Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports related to liquor duty, pollution and finance before the Assembly. Justice Sanjeev Narula on Monday deferred hearing on the petition while noting that the pleadings in the case were not yet complete. No alliance in Delhi: Kejriwal rules out AAP tie-up with Congress

AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday ruled out the possibility of an alliance between his party and the Congress for the Delhi Assembly elections, setting the stage for a triangular contest in the polls due in February. This comes a day after Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav said the party would go it alone in the assembly elections. "There will be no alliance in Delhi," Kejriwal said at a press conference here. AAP and Congress are part of the opposition INDIA bloc and fought the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi together earlier this year. Both parties drew a blank, with the BJP winning all seven seats. Over a week ago, AAP released its first list of 11 candidates, including six leaders who switched from BJP and Congress recently, for the Delhi polls. Reacting to Kejriwal's announcement, Yadav said the Congress is "very clear" that it will not have any alliance with AAP and will contest all the 70 assembly seats in Delhi on its own. The alliance with AAP did "great harm" to
