Mock National Exit Test for final-year MBBS students to be held on July 28

The AIIMS Delhi will conduct a mock National Exit Test (NExT) for the 2019 batch of final-year MBBS students on July 28. According to a notification issued by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), General/OBC candidates will have to pay Rs 2,000 each to appear in the mock test, while SC/ST/EWS applicant will have to pay Rs 1,000. Persons with benchmark disabilities will not have to pay any fee to appear in the examination. The AIIMS Delhi has been entrusted with the job of conducting the mock test. It will be a computer-based examination consisting of multiple-choice questions, sources said. The aim of conducting such a mock test is to familiarise the prospective candidates with the computer-based test, software interface and process flow in the examination centre. Karnataka CM writes to Union Health Minister on setting up AIIMS in Raichur

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday wrote a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, urging him to set up AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Raichur. He requested the Union Minister to instruct the concerned to take steps in this regard. "Being one of the aspirational districts of the country, Raichur has lower health, education level and per capita income than other regions. The area is also at a geographical disadvantage since it experiences extreme weather conditions," Siddaramaiah said in the letter. "Such disadvantages have put Raichur in dire need of robust medical institutions. Establishment of AIIMS will ensure world class facilities in the region," he said. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday said the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) near Gujarat's Rajkot city is likely to be fully ready by October, as 65 per cent of the work has been completed so far. Mandaviya visited the AIIMS here during the day to take stock of the progress of the project. The out-patient department (OPD) of the hospital is already functional, while a 150-bed indoor hospital will be commissioned in August and 250-bed facility in September, he said. The institute in Rajkot is one of the 16 AIIMS being constructed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said. "At least 65 per cent of the physical work of AIIMS Rajkot has been completed, and the OPD has started. Odisha train accident: 39 more bodies brought to AIIMS Bhubaneswar

Thirty-nine more bodies of those who lost their lives in the Balasore train accident were brought to AIIMS here so that these mortal remains could be handed over to their family members without any hassle after completion of the identification process, officials said on Wednesday. These bodies were taken from Balasore and kept in six hospitals in the city on Sunday but the bereaved family members are facing difficulties as they have been visiting various health facilities in search of their loved ones, they said. "Thirty-nine more bodies were received by AIIMS Bhubaneswar and put in refrigerated containers early on Wednesday," the official of the health facility said. Odisha train accident: Doctors rushed to provide medical aid to injured

A team of doctors and experts from the AIIMS here and other central hospitals of Delhi have been rushed to Bhubaneswar through a special IAF flight to provide medical assistance to those injured in the deadly Odisha train accident, official sources said on Sunday. The team is carrying medicines and heavy critical care equipment, the sources said. AIIMS doctors dispatched to Balasore, Cuttack to aid relief efforts

Doctors from AIIMS-Bhubaneswar have been dispatched to Balasore and Cuttack in Odisha to assist in the relief operations at site of the train accident that killed at least 261 people, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday. AIIMS Delhi signs MoU with HSSC for skill development of hospital staff

The AIIMS Delhi has signed a memorandum of understanding with the healthcare sector skill council for the skilling, reskilling, and upskilling of various cadres of hospital staff. The HSSC is a recognised awarding body by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) under the ambit of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), an office memorandum issued by AIIMS said. CGHS beneficiaries to get cashless treatment at 6 AIIMS: Health Ministry

Cashless treatment will now be available to all CGHS beneficiaries at the premier All India Institutes of Medical Sciences in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. The authorities have signed a memorandum of agreement with these six AIIMS to provide cashless treatment under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). "Patient care facilities available at six fully functional AIIMS in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh shall be extended to the CGHS beneficiaries on cashless basis. Six-month-old undergoes metal-free spine fixation surgery at AIIMS

Doctors at AIIMS here have conducted a successful metal-free spine fixation surgery on a six-month-old boy using a bone graft from his mother, making him the youngest infant in Asia to undergo such surgery, the hospital said. The infant was kept on a ventilator for 11 months after undergoing the 15-hour surgery on June 10 last year and was discharged on May 10, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said in a statement. The child had sustained spinal cord and brachial plexus injury during normal vaginal delivery at another hospital. He weighed 4.5 kg (macrosomia) at birth, said Dr Deepak Gupta, professor of neurosurgery at AIIMS. The AIIMS, Delhi inaugurated a state-of-the-art surgical robotics training facility on Tuesday at the SET -- skill, e-learning and telemedicine facility -- of the institute. To bring in transparency, the AIIMS Delhi administration has decided to create dashboards for allotment of accommodation and booking of various meeting venues and guest houses. AIIMS to allow contractors from PSUs to participate in tender process

The AIIMS has issued a memorandum allowing contractors empanelled with MES, railways and other central PSUs to participate in the tendering process for increasing transparency and competition in their engineering contracts. To increase confidence amongst prospective bidders, the engineering contracting system will also be modified. One team of engineers will prepare the estimates and finalise the tender while the other team will monitor the execution of the contract and make payment to the contractors in a timely manner, the memorandum issued on April 27 stated.
