Two Bengaluru students test positive for Cholera after 47 hospitalised

Two students from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute who were hospitalised with others after they complained of loose stools and dehydration have tested positive for cholera, officials said on Saturday. This comes a day after 47 students from the same institute were hospitalised with similar symptoms. Dr Padma MR of the state surveillance unit, under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, said that the cultures of two students have come back positive for cholera. Following the incident, Principal Secretary of Medical Education Department and the Chairperson of Women's Commission visited the hospital and the Girls Hostel. According to Ramesh Krishna, Dean and Director of BMCRI, 47 students from the Institute's girls' hostel were admitted to Victoria Hospital on Friday. Worrying that Bengaluru suffers from water-related issues: Sitharaman

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday hit out at the Siddaramaiah government over the water crisis in Bengaluru and alleged that many irrigation and water-related projects and initiatives were halted by the Congress when it came to power in Karnataka last year. She also criticised the Congress government for the deteriorating law and order in the state. Addressing a press conference here, the Union Minister said it is very worrying and sad that the city suffers from water-related problems. "Just water not being available is a problem. Since yesterday reports of unfortunately cholera possibly spreading in the town is also a very big concern...It is sort of a worry but I think it is also somewhat because people don't have enough water available, contaminated water also reaches people and as a result they are put to difficulties," she said. HP launches AI-enhanced laptops designed for gamers, content creators

HP on Friday launched its range of AI-enhanced laptops designed for gamers and content creators in Bengaluru. HP India Senior Director of Consumer Sales Vineet Gehani, who was in Bengaluru to launch the laptops, told PTI that AI enhanced laptops will not only improve the processing power of the PC or laptop, but will also improve the battery life. For instance, AI will judge how much battery power is required for specific actions and will thus use accordingly, increasing the life of battery, Gehani said. The newly launched laptops include the Omen Transcend 14 and HP Envy x360 14. The AI features include NVIDIA RTX GE4060 Graphics card, Microsoft Co-pilot and Intel NPU (neural processing unit). NIA announces Rs 10 lakh reward on accused in Rameshwaram Cafe blast case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each for sharing information leading to the arrest of two key accused in Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe blast case. The agency requested the general public for information on Mussavir Hussain Shazib alias Shazeb and Abdul Matheen Ahmed Taahaa alias Abdul Matheen Taha wanted in the case, according to a post on X. In a major breakthrough, the NIA had on Wednesday arrested Muzammil Shareef, a key conspirator in the blast case. NIA investigations have revealed that Muzammil Shareef had extended logistic support to the two wanted accused in the case, involving an IED explosion at the cafe located at ITPL Road, Brookefield, Bengaluru, on March 1. Several people were injured in the blast.

NIA arrests key conspirator in Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe blast case

In a major breakthrough, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a key conspirator in Bengaluru's Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, according to an official statement issued on Thursday. Muzammil Shareef was picked up on Wednesday and placed in custody as a co-conspirator after NIA teams cracked down at 18 locations, including 12 in Karnataka, five in Tamil Nadu and one in Uttar Pradesh, it said. The NIA, which took over the case on March 3, had earlier identified the main accused, Mussavir Shazeeb Hussain, who had carried out the blast. It had also identified another conspirator, Abdul Matheen Taha, who is also wanted by the agency in other cases, the statement said. "Both the men are on the run, it added.
