The Bosch stock has shed 10 per cent over the last fortnight on muted September quarter results and lower than expected revenues from the transition to BS-IV emission norms. Analysts say that BS-IV average selling prices were lower than originally estimated in the September quarter, which led to the steep underperformance on the top line front. Revenues grew just under 7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,811 crore, while analysts had estimated it to grow by over 31 per cent to Rs 3,421 crore. The Indian unit of German auto component maker, Bosch, is working on technologies that would allow vehicles to meet the the BS-VI emission standards to the country. While the technology is available in Europe, the company feels there is a huge challenge bring in lower emission standards to Indian driving conditions. Bharat Stage or BS emission standards has been established by the Indian Government to keep a check the air pollutants coming out of motor vehicles. India has for several years been criticised for not keeping a check of the air pollutants at the source. The ministry of road transport in September last year had notified that all vehicles manufactured on or after April 1, 2020 should meet BS VI emission norms. The move came so has to reduce the levels of air pollution in the country.
