Overwhelming majority of Assam youngsters suffer cyberbullying: Survey

A survey of 9,500 volunteers from 24 universities and educational institutions in Assam showed that 95 per cent of them have suffered cyberbullying and corporal punishment leading to mental health issues. Close to 60 per cent of the young people who were surveyed pointed out that it impacted their social relationships, for 24 per cent it led to stress, anxiety and fear, and 17 per cent reported physical injury. The survey was conducted by UNICEF and National Service Scheme (NSS). As many as 9,500 NSS volunteers participated in the poll on cyberbullying and corporal punishment and its report was released on Sunday. The U-Report poll, launched in July this year, was developed to support the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights' (ASCPCR) campaign called Suraksha, aiming to raise public awareness on the forms of violence against children and redressal mechanisms. Delhi Police begins 3-day training on cyber crime with French embassy

The Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit is conducting a three-day joint training session on investigation techniques to combat cyber crime in coordination with I4C and the French embassy, a statement said on Tuesday. The session will be conducted by three cyber experts from the French cyber crime investigation team with two support staff from the French embassy and three cyber expert officers from India, it said. IFSO is a specialised unit that handles all complex and sensitive cases of cyber-crime. The Cyber Crime Unit is equipped with a state-ofthe-art Cyber Lab with cyber forensic capabilities, it said. Apart from this, IFSO also engages in mass awareness and various regular cyber training programmes in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, or I4C, under MHA being the nodal agency, the statement said. Kerala govt devised mobile app to prevent cyber crimes against children: CM

The Kerala government is taking various steps, like coming out with a mobile app, to prevent cyber crimes against children in the state, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Tuesday. Vijayan was responding to queries in the legislative assembly regarding the increasing instances of cyber crimes against children and steps taken by his government and its agencies to tackle the problem. The CM said that due to the COVID-19 pandemic and resultant closure of educational institutions, online classes were held through use of digital equipment and the internet. Extensive use of digital equipment, like mobile phones, and the internet led some children to fall into traps in the cyber world, he noted. To prevent this Kerala Police has devised various projects and schemes.
