'Ambulance Man' Shunty promises to introduce 'pink ambulances' for women

AAP candidate Jitender Singh Shunty says he wants to make Shahdara constituency a better place for women residents as he outlines his plans for introducing 'pink ambulances', hostels for working women and creches for their children if elected from the seat in the Delhi assembly polls. A formal Quick Response Team (QRT) for women's safety and the establishment of a disaster management team to address emergencies in the narrow lanes of the locality are among his other key proposals. Known for his work during the COVID-19 pandemic, which earned him the title of "Ambulance Man," Shunty told PTI that his priorities include serving the people of Shahdara and addressing the needs of women. "If elected, I will honour my commitment to social welfare," Shunty said, adding his initiatives would focus on supporting working women, single mothers, and female professionals who have come from outside to work in Delhi. Delhi never seen poll campaign when 'murderous attack' attempted: Kejriwal

A day after an alleged attack on his vehicle during election canvassing, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said his life was dedicated to the country, but asserted Delhi has never witnessed such campaigning when a "murderous attack" was attempted on a former chief minister. The AAP has alleged that New Delhi BJP candidate Parvesh Verma's "goons" attacked Kejriwal during campaigning in the constituency on Saturday. "The people of Delhi have never witnessed such campaigning and violence in which a murderous attack was attempted on a former chief minister. This is their way of campaigning because they are badly losing," Kejriwal said, targeting the BJP. He also laughed off Verma's claim that Kejriwal is going to lose the New Delhi seat by 20,000 votes. "Let him live in dreams for some days," he told the media. Kejriwal also said he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about a housing scheme for government employees, proposing the Delhi government will build houses if the ..

PM wanted to throw Constitution, ended up bowing before it: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had harboured a wish to "throw away" the Constitution, but ended up bowing before it after the BJP's below-expectation performance in the Lok Sabha polls. The Leader of the Opposition made the charge at a 'Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan' here while mimicking the PM, evoking peals of laughter from the crowds. Holding a copy of the Constitution close to his head, Gandhi said, "When Modiji entered Parliament after winning a third term, he did like this. He wanted to throw the Constitution away. But our concerted fight made him give up his boast of a 400-plus seat win for the BJP." Notably, remarks by a few BJP leaders that the Constitution might be "changed" if the party won more than 400 seats in the 543-strong Lok Sabha were latched on by the opposition INDIA bloc, led by Congress, in last year's general elections. According to many surveys, the refrain "Constitution in danger" had resonated with a secti

The 7th Delhi Assembly convened for just 74 days over its five-year term, the lowest number compared to all previous assemblies, according to a report by the think tank PRS Legislative Research. The report states that the assembly sessions were called every year and divided into several parts. Within each year, sessions were adjourned without prorogation and were divided into parts.
